Berlinda Rose Lujan, an Albuquerque Public Schools teacher for 39 years, died Saturday after a brief battle with cancer, according to Charles Bond, a nephew.
An avid walker at Coronado Center, Lujan also was a devout practicing Catholic who loved her faith, according to obituary information provided to the Journal.
Lujan was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Leon Lujan and Lola Lujan; her brothers, Alfonso and Leon Lujan; her sisters, Lucille Baca, Carmen Lujan, and Christina Lujan-Bonds. She is survived by her sister Andrea O. Lujan, and brother Raymond D. Lujan and his wife Flora. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews: Martin (wife Valery) Baca, Angela (husband Gene) Sievel, Berlinda (husband Ken) Eras, Mark Lujan, Michael (wife Eloisa) Lujan, Karol (husband Tim) Salazar, Daniel Lujan, and Charles Bonds.
“Berlinda’s family deeply appreciates the love, support and prayers they received from our dear relatives, friends and neighbors,” the obituary reads. “We would also like to thank Presbyterian hospice staff Linda Lamansky, Felicia Morgan, and Indira Hernandez.”
A funeral is tentatively being planned for Tuesday. There will be a rosary, followed by a Mass and reception. Reflections Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
