Santa Fe’s election season kicks off in earnest tonight with the first of several candidate debates scheduled over the next three weeks or so.
Tonight’s offering is hosted by the Democratic Party of Santa Fe and features the three candidates competing to represent District 2, Trust for Public Land attorney Peter Ives, retired businessman Bob Sarr and nurse and union official Elizabeth “Dolly” Lujan.
The debate is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Progress and Justice at 1420 Cerrillos Road.
There are 10 people – dispersed among Santa Fe’s four districts – running for City Council. Other opportunities to see the candidates in action:
•Wednesday, Jan. 11, Democratic Party of Santa Fe County will host a forum for District 3 candidates from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Progress and Justice, 1420 Cerrillos Road.
•Thursday, Jan. 12, Neighborhood Network will host candidates from Districts 2 and 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, 465 St. Michael’s Drive.
•Jan. 16, Democratic Party of Santa Fe County will host a debate for candidates from District 4 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Progress and Justice, 1420 Cerrillos Road.
•Jan. 17, Neighborhood Network will showcase candidates from Districts 1 and 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, 465 St. Michael’s Drive.
•Jan. 18, Democratic Party of Santa Fe County will host a forum for District 1 candidates from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Progress and Justice, 1420 Cerrillos Road.
•Jan. 28, League of Women Voters will host a forum for candidates from Districts 1 and 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 107 W. Barcelona Road.
•Feb. 2, League of Women Voters will host candidates from Districts 3 and 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center, 3221 Rodeo Road.
