Hearing in Hobbs Feb. 2 on proposed southeast New Mexico nuclear project

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has scheduled a meeting Feb. 2 in Hobbs to discuss the draft environmental impact statement for a proposed uranium waste treatment plant. The project, proposed by International Isotopes, would treat waste created at the nearby National Enrichment Facility, where uranium is processed for use in nuclear power plant fuel.
