Youth Versus Experience in SF City Council Debate

It was youthful enthusiasm versus experience at a debate Wednesday night featuring the two candidates seeking to represent District 1 on the Santa Fe City Council.

Incumbent Patti Bushee touted the knowledge she’s gained and the accomplishments she’s achieved during nearly two decades as a city councilor. Houston Johansen promised to bring fresh thinking and innovative ideas to the office.

Johansen, 25, was born just seven years before Bushee first started her tenure as a city councilor.

Read more details on their debate, sponsored by the Santa Fe County Democratic Party, in Thursday’s Journal. For now, here’s a pic of the candidates as they prepare to make their opening statements. Joseph Maestas, former mayor of Española and the forum’s moderator, and Richard Ellenberg, the chair of the local Democratic Party, are in the background.
