One person is dead and another faces life-threatening injuries following a shooting that took place south of Santa Fe this afternoon, according to Santa Fe County Sheriff Robert Garcia.
The suspect is at-large. Wanted for questioning is Arthur S. Anaya, 54, of Santa Fe. Authorities “assume” that Anaya is armed and dangerous, according to Sheriff’s Maj. Ken Johnson.
Anaya is 5-foot-6 and 190 pounds. He has brown eyes and gray hair.
The identities of the victims have not been released. The person confirmed dead was described as a male in his teens. The condition was not known of the other shooting victim, a female around 40 to 50 years old, who was taken to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center.
“Preliminary information is that Anaya was the landlord of the home” where the shootings occurred, according to Johnson. That home is on Paseo Galisteo off Old Galisteo Road, located south of Interstate 25, west of where St. Francis Drive dead-ends into Rabbit Road.
The sheriff’s office got a call of shots fired around 1 p.m. today.
Updated information will be posted when it becomes available.
