The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office says a second person has died from Monday’s shooting on the south side of Santa Fe.

Theresa Vigil, 51, who was sent to the hospital after the shooting, died from a gunshot wound to the head. Sixteen-year-old Austin Urban, who had been identified Monday  by people close to the case, also was killed in the shooting off of Paseo Galisteo south of the Interstate 25/St. Francis Road interchange.

According to the sheriff’s office, its investigation revealed that suspect Arthur “Arturo” Anaya, 54 – who is still at large – confronted the victims about collecting rent. Anaya then pulled out a firearm and shot both victims and ran away. A warrant for his arrest on two open counts of murder has been issued, stipulating a $1 million cash only bond if he’s found.

Anaya – who has a long criminal record and has been diagnosed with mental problems -  is described as five feet, six inches tall, 190 pounds, with brown eyes with graying hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a brown jacket with a blue collar. He may be wearing prescription eye glasses. He is considered to be armed and dangerous and violent because of his prior criminal history, the sheriff’s office said.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Arthur Anaya is asked to call 911 or the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office at 505-428-3720.
