One of the nation’s most visible and vocal Christian conservatives — Tony Perkins, president of the Washington, D.C.-based Family Research Council — will be speaking at Calvary Chapel-Rio Rancho Sunday, according to a news release from The Traditional Values Action Committee-NM.
Perkins, a former eight-year Republican member of the Louisiana state legislature, joined the Family Research Council in the fall of 2003, where he has been an advocate for religious freedom in the public square, opposing abortion, defending traditional marriage and promoting a “pro-family” public policy, the release said.
He hosts a national radio program, “Washington Watch Weekly” that airs on more than 300 stations; sends daily email updates to tens of thousands of grassroots activists; and appears frequently on national broadcast and cable news programs.
Perkins is scheduled to appear at the 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday at Calvary Chapel-Rio Rancho, 138 Frontage Road in Rio Rancho.
