Sierra Club Makes SF City Council Endorsements

Election news just keeps trickling in…

The Sierra Club Rio Grande’s Northern New Mexico chapter today announced two endorsements for Santa Fe City Council. The group is backing incumbent Patti Bushee in District 1 and former city councilor Carol Robertson Lopez in District 4.

“Responsible management of water is one of the key conservation issues in Northern New Mexico and Carol has superb knowledge of water issues and the strongest record of advocating smart water-conservation strategies in the District 4 race,” David Van Winkle, chair of the Northern Group of the Sierra Club’s Rio Grande chapter, said in a press release.

Bushee was commended for her work on making Santa Fe more bike-friendly, advocating for a better city-wide trail system and supporting municipal energy efficiency efforts.

No word yet on the club’s endorsements for Districts 2 and 3.
