A former Durango, Colo., man who was last seen leaving Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort has been missing since Jan. 24, authorities told The Durango Herald.
Irvin Rangel, 22, lived in Durango for 12 to 14 years before moving about six months ago to San Juan County in New Mexico, his father, Martin Rangel, told The Herald.
Irvin Rangel’s 2001 black Lincoln Navigator was found abandoned in a remote location about 4 miles south of Farmington, San Juan County sheriff’s Detective Kevin Burns told the paper.
The car door was open, and blood was found inside the vehicle, Burns said.
Several people have occupied the vehicle, so it was unknown whether the blood came from Rangel, and samples of the blood have been sent to a crime lab to determine its origin, the detective told The Herald.
