Fine Point Files New Motion
The Fine Point Group of Las Vegas, Nev., announced Wednesday that it has filed a new motion in Pojoaque Pueblo Tribal Court in a continuing dispute over the pueblo’s decision to drop Fine Point as manager of its casino resort last year.
Fine Point said in a news release that the new motion asks for enforcement of a December order by a special Pojoaque tribal judge appointed to handle the case that the pueblo improperly revoked Fine’s tribal gaming license without notice and a hearing.
Frank Demolli, the pueblo’s lawyer and regular tribal judge, said recently that the pueblo is now through the process of meeting the requirements of the tribal court ruling by starting a formal process before the Pojoaque Gaming Commission to revoke Fine’s gaming license again.
Demolli couldn’t be reached for comment Wednesday.
Fine Point also has filed a federal court lawsuit against pueblo officials, who have denied the company’s complaints.
Historical Exhibit Shown at Library
A representative exhibit of people and cultural institutions that have shaped Los Alamos over the past 100 years remains on display at the Mesa Public Library through the month as part of New Mexico’s Centennial celebration.
Hear people tell their stories about the town and the area at an “open mike” event at the library Sunday from 2-4 p.m.
Monday, the Los Alamos Historical Museum hosts a reception for the photographers whose work is represented in the museum’s Las Conchas Fire exhibit from 4-6 p.m. Monday. The exhibit, featuring nearly 40 photos from more than 20 community photographers, has proved so popular that the museum is keeping it up through the end of February.
Other “Love Los Alamos History” events include a brown-bag lunch with the museum’s ceramics collection at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fuller Lodge. The collection includes everything from ancient pots to Fiestaware to a new donation of a Maria Martinez pot. Bring your own lunch. Drinks and desserts will be provided.
On Valentine’s day, Southern Methodist University Prof. James Hopkins will talk about “Oppenheimer and His Colleagues” at 7:30 p.m., also in Fuller Lodge. The lecture is part of our Centennial series, featuring 100 years of Los Alamos history.
