Apply Now For Student Transfers

Student transfer requests for Santa Fe elementary school students will be accepted from Feb. 6 to Feb. 17. The lottery for elementary student placement will take place on March 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the schools’ administrative office, 610 Alta Vista Street.

To apply for student transfers, parents or guardians must complete the elementary student transfer request form, available at the administrative office or on the public schools website: www.sfps.info.

The forms must be submitted before the deadline during regular business hours to the school administrative office. Transfer requests received after the deadline will be accepted, but not included or considered for the lottery or assignment process until after all lottery and assignments have been made.

Parents will receive a formal written notification from Santa Fe Public Schools in the mail upon approval of the transfer. Parents and guardians must return the notification letter indicating acceptance back to SFPS. Mobile Health Van Offers Services

In support of National Heart Month the Santa Fe County Mobile Health Van is offering free total cholesterol testing during the month of February.

The Mobile Health Van offers a variety of services to residents 18 years of age or older at multiple locations around Santa Fe County. The van is in operation Tuesday through Saturday and all services provided are free to residents.

♦ Today: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Glorieta Baptist Church parking lot, 35 N.M. 50, Glorieta.

♦ Saturday: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Agora Supermarket parking lot, Eldorado.

♦ Tuesday: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Ken and Patty Adam Senior Center, 16 Avenida Torreon, Eldorado.

Public Hearing On Senior Programs

The City of Santa Fe Division of Senior Services will host a public hearing on the Older Americans Act and a related bid for services that is being developed. The public hearing will be held on Friday, Feb. 10 at 9:30 a.m. at the Mary Esther Gonzales Senior Center, 1121 Alto Street.

The Older Americans Act was enacted by Congress in 1965 to ensure provision of social services to America’s elderly population. The City’s Division of Senior Services administers programs that provide a comprehensive social service delivery system for senior citizens in our community, ranging from meals and transportation assistance to housekeeping, respite car, recreational opportunities and more.

Workshops on Golf Fitness, Stretching

Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe offers a free workshop in stretching Saturday with certified personal trainer, Jeff Nailen. Proper stretching reduces the risk of injury and increases flexibility, not only for a better golf game but for other activities as well. This free workshop will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. inside the Back 9 Grill.

Event Benefits Music Program

Santa Fe Bar and Grill is hosting a benefit for the St. John’s College Music on the Hill program from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A jazz duo of St. John’s College Tutor and Pianist Andy Kingston and bassist Justin Bransford plays, door prizes will be offered, and 20 percent of the evening’s sales of food and beverages will benefit the college’s free summer concert series. The event is co-sponsored by the college, Los Alamos National Bank and KSFR Radio.
