Las Cruces District Judge Michael Murphy, who is facing felony bribery charges, will resign his position rather than face disciplinary proceedings.
The New Mexico Supreme Court approved a Judicial Standards Commission settlement today under which Murphy will resign, effective Feb. 24, according to a statement released this afternoon. Under the settlement, Murphy agrees never to seek judicial office in New Mexico again.
The criminal case against Murphy is continuing.
