CUBA, N.M. — Cuba Independent Schools is facing a state probe for licensure and financial issues and the district’s superintendent has announced he is resigning.
KOAT-TV reports that the state’s Public Education Department said Thursday it was investigating the district amid troubles that include the recent firing of a business manager, who was charged with having porn on her computer, to the high school principal being put on paid administrative leave for reasons unclear.
Cuba Independent Schools Superintendent Jackie Dyer said he has asked the school board this week to release him after only being on the job for six months.
Dyer said he’s leaving the district to return to his family in El Paso.
He said state investigators have been to the district at least 10 times since December.
