FARMINGTON (AP) — Farmington council members are crafting a nuisance ordinance involving pigeons. Some residents complain that neighbors are feeding pigeons and what the birds leave in return is not pleasant or healthy.
The Daily Times reports the City Council voted 3 to 1 Tuesday to begin adopting an ordinance. Councilor Mary Fischer was the dissenting vote calling it a case of the government overreaching.
Farmington Animal Control Director Barbara Yarborough says that although the goal is to have some sort of ordinance that tells residents they can be cited for feeding pigeons, she admits enforcing it might be tough.
