Less than 24 hours remain in a 30-day legislative session and lawmakers are gearing up for what’s expected to be a grueling day — and night — at the state Capitol.
Both the House and Senate are currently meeting for floor sessions, though neither chamber has of yet taken up some of the heftier legislation on their agendas.
A number of high-profile bills remain unresolved with the clock ticking toward the Legislature’s adjournment tomorrow at noon.
Those include:
Tax breaks proposed by Gov. Susana Martinez’s administration; education initiatives aimed at improving childhood reading; pension solvency measures geared at making sure the state has enough funding to pay out future liabilities; approval for bonding to pay for statewide public works projects.
Stay tuned for more updates.
