Dennis Hernandez to Run for Santa Fe County Commission

Former Santa Fe County employee Dennis Hernandez has jumped into the race to represent District 2 on the Santa Fe County Commission.

Hernandez, a Santa Fe native who lives in Agua Fria Village, was most recently supervisor of the county’s Property Control Services Division. He’s also served as a board member on the Agua Fria Water Association and the Land of Enchantment Credit Union.

Hernandez said, in a press release, that annexation, long-term water planning and ensuring accountability n government are among his top priorities.

The District 2 seat is being vacated by Virginia Vigil. Santa Fe City Councilor Miguel Chavez is among those who have indicated interest in the post

County Commission hopefuls will formally file their candidacies with the county clerk on March 30. The primaries are in June.
