LOS LUNAS – Los Lunas police said a woman made a threat to a bank teller Monday, telling the employee she had a weapon.
The threat from the woman didn’t surprise bank employees, police said.
Los Lunas Police Lt. Naithan Gurule said the woman, 48, who is a regular customer at the Wells Fargo Bank in Los Lunas, was known for “erratic behavior” before she told a teller she “had a gun” and to “give (her) all the money.”
The incident occurred about 1:40 p.m. at the bank, 1027 Main St. SW, Los Lunas.
Gurule said the teller ignored the comment after the woman asked to use a back bathroom in the building.
He said the woman finished her banking with the teller and police made a traffic stop as the woman was driving west on Main Street at Luna Avenue.
Gurule said the woman didn’t have a gun and wasn’t arrested or charged with a crime. Police reported the incident to the FBI.
Frank Fisher, spokesman for the FBI, said the agency is investigating, but officials “don’t anticipate bank robbery charges (against the woman) at this time.”
