State District Judge Monica Zamora scooped up 63 percent of the delegate vote for a Court of Appeals seat at the Democratic pre-primary convention over the weekend.
She’ll be on the June 5 primary ballot along with fellow Democrat Victor Lopez, who got 37 percent of the vote.
They’re running for the nomination to challenge Court of Appeals Judge J. Miles Hanisee, who was appointed to a vacancy on the appellate court by Republican Gov. Susana Martinez last July.
Zamora is presiding judge in the Children’s Court Division of the 2nd Judicial District in Albuquerque. She was appointed to the bench in 2005.
Lopez has been a judge with the Workers’ Compensation Administration since 2007.
