Celebrity roast to benefit children’s charity

Jackamoe Buzzell has given to charity all his life.

Local actor Jackamoe Buzzell will be in the hot seat during a celebrity roast for his 40th birthday at the Park Inn by Radisson.

Now that the local actor is turning 40, he’s getting roasted and the event is helping out a local charity.

“I’ve always tried to give back in everything I do,” he says. “This time it’s all for the kids.”

Buzzell will hit the “Big 4-0″ on Saturday, March 24 and he’s excited about it.

At the events, Buzzell will be roasted by about 12 people. Along with the roast will be belly dancing, hip-hop dancing numbers and a comedy routine all held at the Park Inn by Radisson.

Adam Montgomery, corporate sales manager at the Park Inn, says the hotel wanted to do something different and give the community a change of pace.

“We were thinking about how to get more comedy shows into the hotel,” he says. “We wanted to create something new and offer residents a chance for a fun night out.”

The event will benefit The Fatherless Child, Inc., which is a non profit organization that is committed to serving the youth of Albuquerque.

The non profit serves those youth who suffer from chronic psychiatric illnesses and/or developmental disabilities. It is our belief that each child is an individual who

can’t be defined by a diagnosis, and whose needs are best served by direct and personal contact with caring individuals within the community.

Buzzell says the charity is one that is close to his heart.

“I grew up without a father,” he explains. “I also have ADHD and learning problems. I found an outlet in acting that has helped me. It’s really the only type of job that accepts me for who I am.”

Buzzell says along with turning 40 years old, he is celebrating his 25th year in the entertainment business.

“It’s been a long, rough ride but I’m still here,” he says. “If I could use my ‘celebrity’ to help children out, then sign me up. I’ll be there.”

Buzzell has been in New Mexico since September 2010 and worked on various film projects in New Mexico. He has appeared in “In Plain Sight,” “Punk’d,” “Scare Tactics,” and Snoop Dogg’s video for “Signs” featuring Justin Timberlake and Charlie Wilson as well as country star Gary Allan’s video “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful”.

He’s also been in commercials for Pepsi, Ford, Callaway Golf, Flamingo Hotel & Casino, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, Nissan, Sonic Burger, Volkswagen, Visa, Doritos and New England Patriots.
