The University of New Mexico’s College of Fine Arts has picked a new dean to take over this summer.
Kymberly Pinder, a Yale graduate and professor at the Art Institute of Chicago, will be the dean starting on July 1, according to UNM’s website.
“I am pleased to announce and welcome Dr. Pinder to the University of New Mexico. She is an accomplished art historian, a talented administrator and an important addition to the academic affairs senior leadership team. I ask everyone to welcome her and her husband, Dr. Mark Caughey, to UNM,” said Provost Chaouki Abdallah in a written statement.
Pinder, who received her master of arts, master of philosophy and doctorate in art history from Yale, also has New Mexico ties. She was the scholar-in-residence at the New Mexico Georgia O’Keeffe Research Center in 2007, according to UNM.
