The board of the Albuquerque Housing Authority fired its executive director Wednesday after reviewing — in closed session — reports from a hearing officer and the city’s inspector general, a city official said.
Dolly Newman, the executive director, made about $93,000 a year, according to the city’s transparency website.
The findings adopted by the housing board weren’t immediately available, but KOB-TV reported that its own investigation had found “questionable spending habits,” such as using government money to buy holiday meats for employees.
The station also said it saw Newman driving to a nail appointment during normal working hours. Links to some of Channel 4′s reports can be found here.
The Housing Authority is a semi-independent agency that provides help to low-income, disabled and elderly residents.
