New Mexico Rail Runner Express will live up to its name May 21 when the railroad begins weekday express trains between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, along with higher fares.
The cost of a one-day pass between Albuquerque and Santa Fe on May 21 will increase to $9, up from the existing fare of $8. A monthly pass between the two cities will cost $110, up from $100 currently. Rio Metro Regional Transit District officials announced the changes at a press conference this morning.
The northbound express train will depart Downtown Albuquerque at 6:25 a.m. Monday through Friday and arrive at the Santa Fe Depot at 7:45 a.m.
The southbound express train will depart the Santa Fe Depot at 5:04 p.m. Monday through Friday and arrive at Downtown Albuquerque at 6:20 p.m.
The express trains will make three stops between those two stations, rather than six stops for other trains.
