Metropolitan Court Judge Yvette Gonzales has set bond for APD officer and former police union boss Joey Sigala at $10,000 cash or surety.
Sigala is charged with two felony counts — aggravated burglary and false imprisonment — tied to allegations he beat his wife on Wednesday.
A public defender challenged probable cause for the false imprisonment charge, but Gonzales overruled the effort because Sigala had his duty weapon on him and blocked the exit to the home of his wife’s friend where the incident took place.
APD officer and former police union president Joey Sigala is scheduled to make his first appearance in court this afternoon.
Sigala, 32, was arrested last night on two felony domestic violence charges after he allegedly stole money and an EBT card from his wife, then hit her outside her friend’s Northwest Albuquerque home, according to court documents.
Sigala had stormed into the home and accused his wife of cheating on him, the court documents state.
