Eclipse advice: don’t be like Marge

With a solar eclipse coming Sunday, I’m preparing a story about how to watch safely. Key bit: don’t look directly at the sun, or you’ll end up like Marge Simpson:

In his six o’clock newscast, Kent Brockman announces that a solar eclipse will appear in Springfield, exciting the Simpson family. After Homer’s camera obscura breaks due to Bart pushing Homer off of the dog house, Marge gives hers to Homer. As the family expresses delight at seeing the eclipse, an envious Marge peeks at the solar eclipse, which blinds her.

Two things.

First, learn from Marge’s tragic mistake. I’ll have advice in the newspaper soon on how to enjoy without going blind. If you don’t want to wait, Sky and Telescope has you covered.

Second, does every episode of the Simpsons have its own Wikipedia page?
