Fires burning in Arizona could cause smoky conditions tomorrow morning in Albuquerque and central New Mexico.
The city of Albuquerque’s Air Quality Division released this statement:
A low pressure system crossing Northern Arizona this afternoon is generating breezes across Arizona. Those breezes are fanning the flames of the fires in central Arizona. In particular, the Gladiator Fire is between Phoenix and Prescott. NOAA’s HYSPLIT tool shows smoke from the Gladiator Fire reaching central New Mexico by Thursday morning.
The smoke Thursday morning won’t be as bad as it was with the Wallow last year. In addition to the Gladiator being much smaller than the Wallow, the low pressure system may help disperse the smoke somewhat. However it will probably be noticeable and a health alert may be needed.
