Copper Thieves Knock Station Off the Air

KQTM sports radio (101.7 FM) station was a victim of a copper-wire theft and was off the air for much of Monday.

“There was a complete power outage in the entire building,” said Joe O’Neill, president of The Team.

A generator got the station up and running around 7 p.m. It had been down since at least 6 a.m.

O’Neill said the radio station is one of “four of five businesses” in the office building in Rio Rancho. He said the other businesses were closed Monday.
