A project to add a lane to northbound Interstate 25 between Comanche and Jefferson begins Sunday, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
The project is expected to take 60 days, and lane closures on the freeway will be during the night when needed, a release from the department said.
This Sunday and Monday night, the stretch of freeway will have the two right lanes closed to place a barrier wall between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The frontage road will also be reduced to one lane during this time.
Then, starting on Monday morning until further notice, the frontage road will be reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The contractor for the project is Mountain States Constructors, and the project will cost $1.8 million, the release said.
Work on the CABQ Bike and Pedestrian Overpass is also moving forward next week, closing the interstate during the night at some points.
The southbound I-25 frontage road will be closed from Osuna to Jefferson Monday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the release said. The frontage road and the interstate between San Antonio and Jefferson will be closed Tuesday night at the same times.
Then, on Wednesday night, the northbound interstate and frontage road will close between Jefferson and Osuna.
