Albuquerque city councilors voted 8-0 late Monday to appoint retired Judge Tommy Jewell as the interim independent review officer, the top watchdog for police.
Jewell is expected to serve through at least mid-August. He’s not a candidate for the permanent job. He’ll oversee the office that investigates citizen complaints against police officers.
