BernCo Approves Fireworks Ban

Bernalillo County commissioners tonight passed a 30-day ban on some fireworks.

They also declared that the county is in extreme or severe drought.

“We have fires burning in just about every quadrant of New Mexico, Colorado and, in some cases, Arizona,” Fire Chief John Garcia said. “The drought conditions are extreme.”

All fireworks are banned in the East Mountains, bosque and wildlands of the unincorporated areas.  Sparklers can be used on paved or barren lands with an accessible water source nearby.
