Santa Fe Lifts Most Fire Restrictions

The city of Santa Fe is lifting most of the fire restrictions it recently put in place because of high fire danger potential.

Officials announced Wednesday that activities such as lighting campfires and bonfires, outdoor grilling and smoking and ATVing in public parks and recreation space are now permissible.

“Dangerous” fireworks, including roman candles, skyrockets and self-propellers, are still prohibited.

In lifting the restrictions, Santa Fe officials are following the example of others in the state. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management, two national forests and state forestry officials lifted fire restrictions on Tuesday, citing increased rain and humidity levels.
