For openers, I got a Viet spring roll ($1.25), which had two shrimp stuffed inside. Before each bite, I dipped the spring roll in a mild, pleasant-tasting brown peanut sauce that came with it.
For the main dish, I ordered No. 13 ($7.25). It’s a very large bowl that was half-filled with vermicelli noodles, slices of beef and a small, cut-up egg roll. Also inside the bowl were bean sprouts and thin slices of lettuce, cucumbers, green onions and carrots. It came with a large cup of a sauce that the waitress described as sweet but was in fact barely so. She suggested I add a thick, dark brown sauce that was in a tube on the table. I took her suggestion and that made all the difference. It enhanced the overall flavor of the dish with its noticeable sweetness.
To drink, I had a glass of iced ginger spice chai tea ($3.25). The spice added a nice touch to the drink.
