Arizona Man Enters Plea in Fatal 2010 Crash in NM

A northern Arizona man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a 2010 crash on the Navajo Nation that killed a 17-year-old boy.

Prosecutors say 27-year-old Tyrone Cornelius Joe entered into a plea agreement Friday in federal court in Albuquerque.

The Window Rock resident was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol on the reservation in McKinley County, N.M. The March 20, 2010 crash killed Timothy Jackson of Fort Defiance, Ariz.

Joe admitted that he and his three passengers consumed a 30-pack of beer, two eight-packs of beer and five 40-ounce bottles of beer prior to the accident.

Prosecutors say Joe faces up to an 8-year prison term when he’s sentenced at a later date. He has been in federal custody since his arrest on Aug. 4, 2011.
