Chinese acrobats and Round Table knights

The Texas Tenors will perform April 20 at the Spencer Theater in Alto, N.M.

A performance by the Chinese Cirque (Cirque Chinois) will kick off the winter season of Alto, N.M.’s, Spencer Theater at 7 p.m. Oct. 3.

Direct from Beijing, this renowned troupe of 45 acrobats, contortionists, trapeze artists and dramatists has won more than 20 gold and silver medals at international festivals throughout Asia and Europe. This is the company’s first tour in the U.S. ($69 and $66).

A preshow Chinese buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ David Ball and the Pioneer Playboys at 7 p.m. Oct. 11, playing traditional country, western swing and progressive cowboy music ($59 and $56).

A preshow enchilada buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ Capitol Steps’ “Take the Money and Run for President” at 7 p.m. Nov. 3. ($79 & $76). The Washington, D.C., musical parody comedy troupe comprised of former Republican and Democratic congressional staffers present their newest show ($79 and $76).

A preshow meatloaf buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ “A Chorus Line,” 7 p.m. Nov. 20 and 21 ($59 & $56). Winner of nine Tony Awards including “Best Musical,” this is a choreographic masterpiece about the blood, sweat and tears of dancers and their quest to be members of a chorus line ($59 and $56).

A preshow glazed ham buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ The Platters, 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. ($69 & $66). One of the greatest four-part harmony groups from the dawn of the rock and roll era ($69 and $66).

A preshow chicken piccata buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ Flying J Wranglers’ White Mountain Christmas, 7 p.m. Dec. 13. This cowboy quintet heralds the joys of the season with melodious yodeling, soaring ballads, instrumentals and homespun humor ($30).

♦ The Nutcracker Ruidoso Dance Ensemble, 7 p.m. Dec. 21-22 and 2 p.m. Dec. 23. An original adaptation featuring outstanding student and guest dancers ($28).

♦ “Nunset Boulevard” starring Cindy Williams, 7 p.m. Jan. 29. Following the zany “Nunsense” adventures, this musical comedy takes the sisters to Tinseltown, where they get booked to perform at the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama ($69 and $66).

A preshow chicken fried steak buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ STOMP The International Percussion Sensation, 7 p.m. Feb. 2 ($79 & $76). The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – poles, brooms, garbage cans, lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with rhythms ($79 and $76).

A preshow baked chicken buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ Valentine Dinner & Dance Soiree, 6 p.m. Feb. 14. Taking place on the theater stage, this celebration includes a gourmet three-course dinner, a complimentary cocktail and dancing to the Michael Francis Trio ($55).

♦ Monty Python’s “Spamalot,” 7 p.m. Feb. 25. A loving rip-off of the classic film comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” which loosely tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table ($79 and $76).

A preshow pot roast buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ Rhythm of the Dance 3 p.m. March 3 at 3 p.m. ($69 & $66). A traditional Irish Celtic dance and music extravaganza starring the National Dance Company of Ireland ($20).

A corned beef & cabbage buffet is available at 1 p.m. ($20).

♦ “Fiddler on the Roof,” 7 p.m. March 9. The universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion as a poor milkman’s love of family helps him face the dangerous forces bearing down on the village of Anatevka ($79 and $76).

A grilled chicken and pasta bar buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ The Fab Four Saturday, 7 p.m. April 6. A Beatles tribute band ($69 and $66).

A fish and chips buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ The Texas Tenors 7 p.m. Saturday, April 20 ($79 & $76). Three Texans sing gospel, country, classical and Broadway.

A preshow roast turkey buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

♦ Elvis Lives the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Event, 2 p.m. April 28 ($56 & $53) and 7 p.m. April 28 ($59 & $56). The only Elvis Tribute to be endorsed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.

A Southern-fried chicken buffet is available at 5 p.m. ($20).

The theater will begin processing ticket orders on Aug. 22, with the public series (four or more events) processed starting Aug. 21.
