A months-long project to widen a section of Unser Boulevard from McMahon to Black Arroyo near the new Presbyterian Rust Medical Center is expected to be complete this fall.
The $1.2 million city of Albuquerque project is reconstructing the existing roadway to expand it from two lanes to four lanes, which will include bike lanes.
The work also includes curbs, gutters, medians and storm drains.
Additional infrastructure will be installed at the intersection of Unser and Night Whisper by the Unser Plaza commercial center where a traffic signal will be located in the future.
Money for the project comes from a quarter-cent gross receipts tax dedicated to transportation uses and from general obligation bonds.
