Nibbles: L.A. Subs

I ordered a large tuna sub ($8.95) on whole wheat to go. Not having eaten at this small restaurant before, I didn’t know how large a “large” sub was. I was happily surprised. Large turned out to be humongous!

Wrapped in paper, it was sliced in half and came with baggies of crisp chips and a pickle wedge.

As a late lunch, I consumed half of the sub. I’m glad I snagged extra napkins for my lap; some of the sliced lettuce, sliced tomatoes and sliced pickles fell onto the napkins with each bite I took. I also devoured the chips and pickle wedge.

L.A. Subs
LOCATION: 1009 Golf Course Road (at the corner of Southern), Rio Rancho, 896-4555
HOURS: 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays-Fridays

My wife and I split the second half of the sub for our dinner. It was so tasty and plentiful.

I got a bottled soda ($2) – an orange cream soda. Zuberfizz was the name on the label. It was made by the Durango Soda Co. of Durango, Colo. A longtime fan of cream soda, I thought this drink was smooth, very creamy, with a hint of orange.
