Counting Crows set Duke City date

Adam Duritz and crew are coming to the Duke City.

Counting Crows will perform on Nov. 14 at the Kiva Auditorium.

Counting Crows will perform on Nov. 14 at the Kiva Auditorium. Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14 through www.livenation.com.

Prices are $45, $55 and $65 plus applicable fees.

The tour kicks off Oct. 23 and the announcement comes on the heels of the release earlier this year of their critically-acclaimed album, “Underwater Sunshine,” a sold-out spring tour that took them to audiences nationwide.

“This summer on ‘The Outlaw Roadshow,’ was the best time I’ve ever had on tour. When you watch great bands play killer sets every night it makes you want to go out and play even better sets yourself,” said frontman Adam Duritz. “It’s not competition, it’s just…rock ‘n’ roll is a drug and watching great bands gets you high. The fans reap the benefits of that every night. Going out this fall with Mean Creek and Tender Mercies is going to be a hell of a ride. Plus, we promised the people in the South and the West that we were coming back this year.”

Counting Crows hails from the San Francisco Bay Area and consist of Duritz, David Bryson, Charles Gillingham, Dan Vickrey, Jim Bogios, David Immergluck and Millard Powers. With more than 20 million albums sold worldwide, Eight Top 5 singles, and three records having broken the Top 5 on the Billboard 200, Counting Crows success dates back to their 1993 debut release “August And Everything After” and the hit single “Mr. Jones.”

The band’s most recent accomplishments include a No. 1 hit with the song “Accidentally In Love,” which was featured on the “Shrek 2″ soundtrack, as well as nominations in 2005 for a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for the track.

In 2004, the band released their first ever “best of” set “Films About Ghosts” which featured songs from every phase of the Counting Crow’s recording career and in 2006 a live record was released, “New Amsterdam: Live at Heineken Music Hall 2003,” while the band ventured out on a summer tour.
