Nibbles: DG’s Deli

A lot of restaurants have a sandwich called Albuquerque Turkey. Because I’m a big sliced-turkey fan, I thought I’d try this restaurant’s version. Its many flavor combinations made it a terrific culinary experience. The jumbo sandwich ($9.99) I ordered came on firm French bread. Inside were lots of sliced turkey, a little Swiss cheese, diced medium-hot green chile, thick amounts of avocado, plus sliced tomato and lettuce and mayo. A few slices of onion were an additional 50 cents. The flavors changed depending on where I bit into the sandwich.

The side of cole slaw was a combo deal ($1.79) with a fountain drink. I drank the sweetened Gold Peak iced tea.

My friend Pete had the Veggie Sizzler ($6.99). It came with mushrooms, green bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and green chile sautéed in olive oil with white American cheese and avocados. He loved it.
