On April 28 and 29, 17-year-old Conrad Tao performed Mozart Piano Concertos No. 17 and No. 25 with the Santa Fe Musica Orchestra, and, according to the organization, those in attendance are still talking about the extraordinary performance.
Now Santa Fe Pro Musica Recordings has produced a live recording of the concert. The recording is of Tao’s fourth performance with the orchestra; the first was in 2009, when he was 14.
Among his many accolades, in May, Tao received the Avery Fisher Career Grant and he was the 2012 Gilmore Young Artist, presented every two years to single out the most promising of U.S. pianists age 22 and younger.
