Paul Wins Second Emmy; Does Spoof with Cranston

Aaron Paul picked up his second Emmy Award for his portrayal as Jesse Pinkman in “Breaking Bad.”

Paul — who plays Jesse Pinkman on AMC’s “Breaking Bad” — picked up his second Emmy in the supporting actor in a drama series. He beat out fellow cast member Giancarlo Esposito, who played villain Gus Fring on the show that’s filmed and based in Albuquerque.

“Thank you so much for not killing me off,” Paul said of his drug-dealing character’s lucky survival. “Thank you Hollywood for allowing me to be part of your group,” he added, noting he’d moved from Idaho to pursue his dreams.

Paul’s night wasn’t finished there.

He along with co-star Bryan Cranston starred in a minute-long spoof on what “Breaking Bad” would have been like before cable. The two suited up to cook crystal meth, out at the lake with their fishing poles as “The Andy Griffith Show” whistling theme song was heard.

Paul wasn’t the only person with New Mexico connections with take home a trophy.

Eldorado High School alum Jay Roach took home an Emmy for directing in a miniseries, movie or dramatic special for the 2008 political drama, “Game Change.”

“Game Change” follows the 2008 presidential campaign of Sen. John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin. It is based on the best-selling book of the same name written by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann.

Julianne Moore earned an Emmy for her portrayal of Palin and was beaming after her win.

“I feel so validated because Sarah Palin gave me a big thumbs down,” Moore said.

The film also picked up Emmys for writing as well as best miniseries.

St. Pius alum Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s “Modern Family” took home best comedy series as well as acting awards for his co-stars Julie Bowen and Eric Stonestreet.
