Editorial: Auction, Gala Support Art Students in APS

Got a blank wall that’s begging for something eye-catching? This evening you have a chance to remedy that deficit and at the same time show your support for young local artists.

About 200 pieces of Albuquerque Public Schools student art will be on the auction block to showcase student talent and to raise money for district fine arts programs and the APS Foundation.

A Is for Art! has raised more then $60,000 during the past two years.

This year’s A Is for Art! auction and gala will start at 6 p.m. at the Albuquerque Museum, 2000 Mountain NW.

Student art including unique multimedia art, photographs, paintings, jewelry and metalwork will be available for purchase through both live and silent auctions.

New Mexico artist Edward Gonzales will be the celebrity artist at this year’s event.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students, and are available at www.apseducationfoundation.org or at the door. For a sneak preview, go to ABQjournal.com to see a slide show.

So get your art on and enjoy a nice evening while supporting APS arts programs.
