8:03 a.m. – And they’re off. Balloons are filling the Albuquerque sky on the final day of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
7:07 a.m. – Balloons are starting to inflate at Balloon Fiesta Park as the Farewell Mass Ascension gets underway.
6:37 a.m. – APD officers and paramedics are responding to a three-car accident on I-25 northbound at Alameda. Injuries are being reported.
6:32 a.m. – Just got word from pilot briefing that today’s Farewell Mass Ascension is a go. Balloons should start lifting off around 7 a.m.
6:23 a.m. – Balloon pilot’s briefing is beginning now. Weather at Balloon Fiesta Park is very promising with almost no wind being reported.
6:10 a.m. – The first dawn patrol balloon has inflated at Balloon Fiesta Park. Weather looks very promising for the final day of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. The Krispy Kreme Morning Glow is scheduled to get underway at around 6:30 a.m. with the Farewell Mass Ascension at 7 a.m.
5:41 a.m. –Winds at 1 one mph or less on field, says KKOB radio and 39 degrees. Sunday morning is the ninth and final day of the 2012 event. Hundreds of balloons expected to launch in this morning finale. Have your parking fee ready.
