Lujan Grisham raises $515K for 1st District race

SANTA FE (AP) — Democratic candidate Michelle Lujan Grisham reports having seven times more campaign cash than Republican Janice Arnold-Jones heading to Election Day and a new poll shows the Democrat opening a wider lead in the Albuquerque-area 1st Congressional District race.

A poll published Tuesday by the Journal found 51 percent of voters backing Lujan Grisham to 37 percent for Arnold-Jones, with 12 percent undecided.

Lujan Grisham was leading 46 percent to 34 percent in an early September poll. There’s no incumbent in the race.

New campaign finance reports showed Lujan Grisham with cash-on-hand of almost $379,000 at the end of last month and Arnold-Jones had $53,500.

The poll surveyed 402 likely voters from Oct. 9 to Oct. 11, and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.
