Best of all, not one song by Webber

Eighty years later, and it’s still creepy.

“The Phantom of the Opera” by Rupert Jillian and starring Lon Chaney first opened in the U.S. in 1929. Since then the film has only grown in popularity.

The film will be shown at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the KiMo Theatre, 423 W. Central. The Alloy Orchestra will perform its own original score. The film features Chaney in the title role as the masked and facially deformed Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House, causing murder and mayhem in an attempt to force the management to make the woman he loves a star.

Tickets are $15-$25 and available at www.kimotickets.com or at the KiMo box office at 768-3544. Concessions will be available.
