Santa Fe Trails Ridership Grows

In the next day or two, Santa Fe’s public bus system celebrates a major milestone — 1 million rider trips in one year.

City officials plan to designate Santa Fe Trails’ one-millionth rider by Saturday, when a celebration feting the milestone, as well as the 20th anniversary of the Santa Fe Trails system, will take place.

City transit number show that city ridership has doubled in the last 7 or 8 years. In 2004, the bus system had 532,938 rider-trips. By last year, that number had grown to 970,864. For 2012, city officials’ lowest estimate is 1,002,144 rider-trips.
