Albuquerque firefighters responded to a reported apartment fire at an abandoned five-unit building at 329 Pennsylvania SE at 2:45 this morning, and the fire was knocked down within 10 minutes of the first units arriving on scene, the Albuquerque Fire Department said in an emailed news release.
Four families in an adjacent building were evacuated by fire crews, and the Red Cross was dispatched to assist the 11 people who were displaced, the AFD said.
Thanks to quick action by firefighters, no injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to two of the five units in the abandoned building, and the four evacuated families were allowed back into their homes, according to the release.
The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
