Christmas Parade Is Today at 6 p.m.
The town of Bernalillo’s annual Christmas Parade begins at 6 p.m. today at Carroll Elementary School, behind the Flying Star Restaurant on Camino del Pueblo, runs south on Camino del Pueblo to Avenida Bernalillo, then winds its way west to Rotary Park.
There will be a bonfire and bizcochitos at the park after the parade.
Curves Collects Kids’ Supplies
Curves of Bernalillo at 140 East Highway U.S. 550 in Bernalillo is collecting supplies for infants and children up to 5 years old to benefit God’s Little Angels, a community outreach program run by the Bernalillo chapter of St. Vincent de Paul.
Curves offers a variety of exercise programs for women. It is also involved in charitable efforts within the community.
Second Chance Holiday Sale
Second Chance Treasures, a thrift store in Corrales whose proceeds benefit Second Chance Animal Rescue Inc., is having a holiday sale with 20 percent off all items costing more than $5. The sale is through Dec. 24.
The store is at 3701 Corrales Road, next to Frontier Mart, and is open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition to featuring kitchenware, linens, tableware, jewelry, art, clothing, collectibles, books and furniture, Second Chance is also accepting donations of such items during store hours. Receipts will be given for tax purposes.
Second Chance Animal Rescue is a private, nonprofit, volunteer based organization.

Tasting Party Is Next Weekend
Home at the Range, the gift and gourmet shop inside The Range Café at 925 Camino del Pueblo in Bernalillo is holding a pre-holiday tasting party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 7.
The gift store stocks a wide variety of wines and spirits and gourmet goods.
Hear More About N.M. 528 Project
A public hearing on planned improvements to N.M. 528 between Southern Boulevard and Northern Boulevard will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Sabana Grande Recreation Center, 4110 Sabana Grande Ave., in Rio Rancho.
There will be detailed information about an environmental assessment of the proposed improvements – such as reconstructing it as a six-lane divided roadway with a raised median, bicycle lanes and a multi-use path -conducted by the state Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration.
