Sen. Bingaman Teaches Stephen Colbert How to be a Senator

Sen. Jeff Bingaman is expected to appear on a segment of Comedy Central’s “Colbert Report” tonight to instruct Stephen Colbert, a write-in candidate for South Carolina’s open U.S. Senate seat, how to do the job.

Bingaman, who is retiring at the end of the month, agreed to tutor the master satirist on the finer points of serving in the upper chamber of Congress. “Colbert Report” staffers told Bingaman’s office that Colbert was soliciting advice from all departing U.S. Senators and Bingaman taped the segment today in the U.S. Capitol.

There is a chance Bingaman could be edited out of the segment, but I’ll be tuning in just in case.  Bingaman is not widely considered a humorist, but I’ve always found him to be a bit more droll and amusing than he is given credit for.
