AFD responds to fire at First St. and Haines Ave.

The Albuquerque Fire Department responded to a structure fire, spreading to additional structures, at First St. and Haines Ave. at 7:38 a.m.

AFD Engine Four arrived within three minutes after being dispatched to find smoke and flames on a rubble pile that spread to a storage shed.

According to a report from the AFD, fire attack was made difficult due to limited access, proximity to train tracks and power lines. An aerial ladder was setup to deluge the affected structure. The fire was brought under control within 40 minutes of the first arriving AFD unit with the fire being contained to one of several storage units and surrounding rubble.

The report states, due to the professional actions of the AFD no injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation and no additional information is available.
