Joe Leong, with more than 25 years’ experience in the newspaper business, has been named vice president of circulation for the Albuquerque Publishing Co.
Leong most recently was director of consumer marketing at the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and circulation director of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
A graduate of New Mexico State University, he grew up in Las Cruces and started his career in the newspaper business at the El Paso Times as district operations manager and then circulation sales manager.
While still with the Gannett Co., Leong worked for newspapers in Pennsylvania and then as circulation director for The Times in Shreveport, La.
He joined the Honolulu Advertiser in 2000 as circulation marketing director and in 2006 moved to the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, where he led the circulation team that merged the city’s two daily newspapers in 2010.
“The publishing company is glad to have Joe join us,” said Brian Fantl, APC senior vice president and chief operating officer. “We are sure that his many years of circulation experience will help us increase and improve the overall service our subscribers receive.”
The position is an addition to the senior management team at the publishing company, which handles advertising, circulation, production and marketing for the Albuquerque Journal.
