Vehicle fire burns multiple cars and garage

The Albuquerque Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire with a vehicle involved located at the 1600 block of Kit Carson Ave. early this morning.

According to an AFD report, fire crews arrived on scene to find two vehicles, fully involved, parked in the driveway of the home with the fire spreading to the garage. AFD crews quickly suppressed the fire resulting in no additional damage to the rest of the home. The fire was contained to only the garage and the vehicles.

The report states, there was minimal damage to the home thanks to AFD’s quick response and actions. The residents of the home were alerted by a passerby and evacuated the home safely with no injuries reported.

The fire is believed to have started  in the engine compartment of one of the vehicles by the battery area with the cause unknown at the time of the report.
